Star Wars, where science meets imagination, has landed at The Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana. The traveling exhibit will be on display at the museum for the last time in California, until April 15, 2012. The exhibit uses the technology from the film to create hands-on exhibits, to immerse visitors into the science behind the films technology.
Build Your Own Robot
As guests make their way through the exhibit, they will have an opportunity to learn about robots. The robots in the movie Star Wars had many different features, and visitors can create their favorite robot with the supplies provided. When building a droid, visitors can choose from a variety of wheels and sensors.
Digitally Program Robots
After visitors create their own custom robot; they will have an extraordinary opportunity to program the robot to move. While programming the robot, visitors will have a chance to feel like a scientist as they teach the robot how to maneuver and operate. Once they have been programmed, then the robots will be able to move around.
Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder
Feel just like Luke Skywalker, while climbing into a real-life hovercraft. The hovercraft will slightly begin to launch as guests revolve around, getting an unparalleled opportunity to experience how transportation would be like in the movie.
Engineering Design Lab
After taking flight in Luke Skywalker’s hovercraft, visitors have a change to create their own transportation vehicle out of LEGOs. Once a vehicle has been designed, then magnets can be attached, and it will then have the ability to be tested by propelling it along a large magnetic track.
The Worlds of Star Wars
All the characters from the movies are represented, throughout the exhibit. There are costumes from each of the Star Wars worlds, including large models of the various ships. Some of the costumes available for viewing are Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin, a snowtrooper, Yoda from Coruscant and much more!
Millennium Falcon Experience
Take off into space in a full-size replica of the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon from Episode IV. While on this digital experience, visitors will receive an educational experience from infinity and beyond. It is a 4 ½ minute ride, giving visitors a 3-dimensional experience. The ride is located in the tent right outside the main building.
A Jedi will help to teach visitors how to build their own lightsaber and explain how they work. After completion of your personal lightsaber, it will be time to learn how to use it while taking part in the Jedi Knight School.
