The SoCal Honda Dealers are at it again, surprising Grand Performances concert-goers with Random Acts of Helpfulness all summer long. Last year, they offered free helpful pedicab rides to get people from their cars to the show at select concerts. They also surprised concert-goers with free ice cream! This cultural and musical exchange features rising indie stars from LA and Guadalajara. Gaby Moreno, the Emmy-nominated rising rockerra born in Guatemala and now residing in LA, infuses bilingual lyrics with splashes of soul, blues, and Latin jazz-rock. The Sonora-born singer Caloncho fills the air with soothing summer night anthems of soft tempos and Latin indie-dream pop.
Sat Jun 24 @ 8:00pm | Miguel Atwood-Ferguson: New Music + Suite for Ma Dukes
Using the style of contemporary chamber music, this homage to producer-rapper J Dilla’s highly influential work and unfulfilled legacy pays tribute to one of hip-hop’s most accomplished artists through orchestral interpretation. Miguel Atwood-Ferguson will also present new and original music from his upcoming release, “Les Jardins Mystiques.”

The first event in a two-year project highlighting innovative new voices from Indigenous North American artists. This powerful expression of culture and community features raw lyrics, urgent poetry, and iconic dance from artists Frank Waln (Sicangu Lakota), The Sampson Brothers (Mvskoke Creek/Seneca), Tanaya Winder (Southern Ute/Duckwater Shoshone/Pyramid Lake Paiute), MC RedCloud (Huichol), and Mare Advertencia Linka (Zapoteca).

Seating is first come, first served. In addition to a small amphitheater, additional chairs and benches are available throughout the plaza. Blankets and low-backed chairs are welcome (just avoid setting up in designated walkways).
