Two questions 1) Is a 1/2" ID glass tube marked in 1/10" an accurate device for measuring rain fall? 2) How do I find an accurate weather station? I live in the Whittier area and have two have two weather stations within 2.5 miles of my house. As of 01/10/2013 I have recorded 3.5" of rain WTCH1 has recorded 2.86". The two stations are 2.32 miles apart and they never agree on temp, wind, pressure or rain. LOCGP rain total is much less and does not display all the time. Last year during February with several days of continuous rain WTCH1 didn't record any rain fall and it was being used as the official weather station for Whittier.
