CNN reports that there was a launch at 9:24 p.m. Thursday, from Vandenberg AFB. I’m thinking that the orange flame we saw could very well be from that. As the sky being so dark, the space craft was “hidden” and only the flames from the rocket were visible. Whatever it was, it was awesome. Never seen anything like it.
I posted a question earlier but guess I did it wrong since I’m not seeing my question. This is what I wrote.
“I’m located in Valley Village area. Looking south, aprox 35-40 degrees, it reminded me of a space capsule reentry into the earth’s atmosphere. Definately had a “core” with flames pushed back as it traveled from west to east. Only saw it for a few seconds and it went out. Then flamed up again for a moment, like a match stick or a candle wick going out.”
But wait … to correct myself, Vandenberg is to the northwest, not south, from where I live. So then, what really was it? Hmmmmm.
