Suspect Killed In Reseda Officer-Involved Shooting, 2 LAPD Officers Injured

RESEDA (CBSLA) -- Police say a suspect died and two LAPD officers were injured following an officer-involved shooting in Reseda Monday morning.

The shooting happened around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Hamlin Street and Corbin Avenue, according to authorities.

According to LAPD Capt. Patricia Sandoval, the confrontation reportedly began when the two Topanga Station police officers began chasing the suspect in an SUV after receiving a "LoJack hit" that indicated the car had been reported stolen.

The officers were in pursuit of the SUV for roughly seven minutes when the suspect, a man in his 20s, tried to flee on foot into an alley in the area of Hamlin and Corbin.

Authorities say the officers had been following the suspect on foot for about two to five minutes when the shooting occurred.

According to Sandoval, it was unclear if both officers fired. The suspect died at the scene.

Details regarding the suspect's identity have yet to be released, pending notification of his relatives.

The two injured officers were transported to Northridge Hospital for moderate to minor injuries.

One officer suffered a knee injury, while the other officer suffered scrapes and bruises. According to Capt. Patricia Sandoval, both officers have been with the LAPD for around three years.

Their injuries are not life-threatening. Both officers are expected to make a full recovery.
