Ben Named Ultimate 'Survivor' And Takes Home $1 Million

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA)   --   In the end, Ben was the ultimate "Survivor."

In a season of ""Heroes vs Healers vs Hustlers" Ben Driebergen was a little of all three. He started out officially being a member of Levu, the Heroes tribe. He didn't mind making friends, enemies or frenemies.

Reality TV World noted that Ben could be "a teddy bear or a grizzly bear."

The 34-year-old Marine from Boise, Idaho came into the game touting the fact he was a good father  (a 5-year-old boy and 3-year-old girl)  and husband.

He called himself an early favorite to win because of his military training. "I have survived and overcome so many situations and met so many different people with different personalities. My social game is on point and my leadership and survival skills have been tried, tested and proven."

Ben turned out to be pretty prescient on that score.

Ben only made the final three because of a new twist in the always-twisting game.

In the finale, he won in a 5-2-1 vote against Chrissy Hofbeck and Ryan Ulrich.

With his winnings, he told CBS2's Suzanne Marques he's thinking of holding on to it for a while.

"We're not going to spend it first," he said, "we;re going to save it and figure out how to make it work."

Previously to joining the show, he said he wanted to buy a new ranch and a new truck.

He knew he had advantage being a Marine .While others complained about being hot, hungry, away from home or tired, for Ben, he says, "'That [show] was a vacation for me!"
