Hollywood may be the tourist mecca of Los Angeles, but that doesn't mean visitors have to settle for a ho-hum chain restaurant to fulfill their dining needs. There are a number of stellar neighborhood restaurants that are sure to satisfy tourists and locals alike. Forget the gimmicks and enjoy some tasty grub!

Come hungry to brothers Curtis and Luke Stone's stunning temple of meat. The house made charcuterie is among the best in town but the real star of the show is the incredible selection of meat, seafood and poultry cooked in the asador, Gwen's stunning wood burning fire pit and focal point of the dining room. If you're in the mood to splurge, go for one of the melt-your-mouth Blackmore Wagyu cuts, imported from the brothers' native Australia. For a more affordable option, stop by the restaurant during lunch for excellent $12 sandwiches and salads.

The quintessential French bistro experience can be found in an unassuming Hollywood strip mall. Papilles serves up one of the best bargains in town, offering an ever changing $38 three course pre-fixe. The restaurant offers multiple choices for each course, with classic options such as Hangar Steak and Gnocchi Parisienne. Though the wine list offers interesting bottles, consider dining on Mondays when the corkage fee is waived.

This New York import courtesy of the Tao Group remains white hot since opening earlier this year. There's no question that Beauty & Essex is a spot to see and be seen, but it'll also provide a satisfying dining experience. While the gorgeous setting will transport you back to old Hollywood, chef Chris Santos' menu is refreshingly modern, with eclectic options that touch on local food culture including Mexican Street Corn Ravioli and Korean Chile Dusted Tuna. Of course, cocktails are a must, with several innovative options of the sweet and savory variety.

Bigger doesn't always mean better, but in the case of Salt's Cure's move to its current roomier Highland Avenue digs, that's certainly been the case. Enjoy gourmet gut-busting fare that's heavy on the swine; think a housemade soft pretzel with lardo, chili braised pork shoulder, and an impressive 16 oz pork chop. Locals flock to the epic Sunday brunch for oatmeal griddle cakes slathered in cinnamon molasses butter and the southern-inspired trio of biscuits, sausage gravy, and eggs.

If you're looking to relive the golden age of Hollywood, Musso & Frank is the place to be. This nearly century-old institution serves up all the standards as well as forgotten favorites like grilled lamb kidneys with bacon which happen to have been restaurant regular Charlie Chaplin's go-to order. The Martinis, Manhattans and Old-Fashioneds are perhaps the best you'll ever have, stirred and shaken by expert bartenders, many of whom have donned the signature Musso & Frank red jacket for decades.

Since opening in 2014 to great foodie fanfare, Luv2Eat Thai continues to serve some of the best Thai food in Los Angeles. Skip the familiar and go for the deep cuts like funky Issan sausage and Kua Gling, a turmeric-heavy southern Thai stir-fry.
