MONTEREY PARK (CBSLA.com)   —  At least six people were stung — and two were hospitalized — following a bee attack in Monterey Park.

The attack occurred just after 5 p.m. in the parking lot of a Ralphs supermarket located at Atlantic and Garvey, officials said.

Two of the people who were stung were taken to a nearby hospital, authorities said.

One of the people stung included a firefighter, police said.

KCAL9;s Laurie Perez arrived on scene and the bees were still flying.

She spoke to one man who was attacked.

“Yes, I was freaking out,” said Wallace Leung, “I just run out of the car, not even roll up my windows.”

He said the attack happened out of the blue.

“A lot. My whole car was full of them,” he said.

Leung said some people just started running, many leaving their groceries behind.

“I was trying to protect my eyes, and cover up and try not to get stung. But still I got like stung 10 times or maybe more,” Leung said.

He was one of of the people treated at the scene ,
