Now celebrating its 16th year, the Chalk Art Festival essentially takes the historic Redondo Beach pier and transforms the entire space into a gigantic canvas. With artists of all levels converging on the pier, sections of the space are divided up casually and people are welcomed to get as creative as possible with the same medium, chalk. Focusing more on the interactive component by encouraging people to get their hands dirty, the festival even offers free chalk for the first few hundred attendees. Among the best places to enjoy some sun along the shore, now you can leave a little piece of art behind for everyone to see.

If you reduce the event down, the Long Beach Lobster Festival is an opportunity to enjoy fresh lobster while soaking in the sun on the gorgeous Rainbow Lagoon. However, the festival makes sure to cover all the bases. There are craft booths and even a petting zoo for the kids. Live entertainment will take to the stage for the entire weekend to ensure you can work off that lobster tail on the dance floor. There is even a karaoke stage for those that spend enough time in the beer garden. Considering all the amenities, it’s important to remember that the succulent lobster meal is still the star. The event runs all weekend long to ensure everyone gets his or her fill.
