Fans Thrilled To See Angels Star Mike Trout At Local Minor-League Game

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — It was close to 100 degrees Thursday in San Bernardino, but baseball fans didn't mind. They came to see Mike Trout, one of the hottest players in all baseball.

"He's just a heck of a baseball player," one fan said.

Many of the fans at the Inland Empire 66ers game live in the Inland Empire, so it's a treat for them to have an all-star play in their back yard. But others drove from places like Barstow and Valencia. Why not, when tickets are under 10 bucks?

"You're a lot closer to the players," a fan said. "It feels different. It feels special."

While Trout's goal is to rehab from a torn ligament in his left thumb and get back to playing for the Los Angeles Angels, he took time out for the fans, taking pictures and signing a lot of autographs.

"It was awesome! It was great," another fan said. "This was my first autograph and look from who? The MVP."

Trout said he appreciated fans braving the heat just to see him.

"When I came out of the dugout, just on deck, it's a great welcome," the outfielder said. "It makes you feel good. ... Can't thank them enough for the support."

Even though Trout says he is feeling better, he's not quite ready to rejoin the Angels, so fans may have another chance to see him in San Bernardino this weekend.
