Fireworks Shows Galore Across LA Tuesday

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) – Fireworks displays marking the 241st anniversary of the nation's independence will be held throughout Los Angeles County Tuesday evening.

What is billed as California's longest-running Independence Day fireworks show will be held at the Rose Bowl.

Thousands of special effect fireworks will be used at the 91st annual AmericaFest at the Rose Bowl. CBS2's own Pat Harvey will be hosting the patriotic celebration.

The fireworks will be preceded by a performance by the Beatles tribute band Liverpool Legends, whose members were selected by Louise Harrison, the sister of the late Beatle George Harrison, show organizers said.

Performances will begin at 7 p.m. The Rose Bowl parking lots will open at noon. A festival with food vendors, entertainment, craft-making, exhibits and inflatable rides for children will begin at 2 p.m.

General admission tickets are $15, while reserved seating is $30. General parking is $30, $20 in advance.

An estimated crowd of 60,000 annually attends the July 4 Fireworks Extravaganza at Warner Center Park in Woodland Hills.

The free event is scheduled to run from 6-9:30 p.m. and will include food from 20 area restaurants, a concert by the San Fernando Valley Symphony Orchestra featuring Broadway tunes, jazz and rock songs, arts and crafts vendors and a 15-minute fireworks show.

Parking is $20 in any of the Warner Center structures between Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Canoga Avenue and Califa Street and Oxnard Street.

In downtown Los Angeles, the fifth annual Fourth of July Block Party at Grand Park will include a 9 p.m. fireworks show shot from the roof of The Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, set to pop and classic rock hits along with patriotic music.

The show will be visible throughout downtown Los Angeles and surrounding neighborhoods.

The party will run from 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and cover five blocks from Spring Street to Grand Avenue and Temple Street and Second Street. It will include music played on stages at Grand Park.

There will be a dedicated play area on Grand Park's Event Lawn between Broadway and Spring Street, where children from 5 to 12 years old can play tag, soccer and other games from 2-5:30 p.m.

Activities in The Sandlot between Spring Street and Broadway from 2-7 p.m. include bracelet creating, face painting and playing games, and food from more than 45 gourmet food trucks will be available for purchase.

Marina del Rey's 20-minute fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m., synchronized to music played over loudspeakers at Burton Chace Park and Fisherman's Village.

Fireworks will also follow the concert by the Grammy-winning a cappella group Pentatonix at the Hollywood Bowl; the Los Angeles Dodgers-Arizona Diamondbacks game at Dodger Stadium; the Los Angeles Galaxy-Real Salt Lake Major League Soccer game at StubHub Center; the Professional Bull Riders Touring Pro Division at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds; and the Lancaster JetHawks-Lake Elsinore Storm California League baseball game at The Hangar.

Fireworks displays are also planned for 9 p.m. at:
