Woman Shot Dead In Whittier, Allegedly By Ex

WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) – An investigation is underway into the shooting death of a woman in Whittier Saturday morning.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies responded at 11:15 a.m. to the 13900 block of Coteau Drive to find a woman dead from gunshot wounds.

A man was also found at the scene with undisclosed injuries. He was taken to a hospital, the sheriff's department reports.

Two children, ages seven and nine, were additionally found at the residence.

"They were here at the location. However, it is unclear at this time whether they witnessed portions of the shooting," LASD Homicide Bureau Lt. Rodney Moore said.

Investigators say it appears the children's father showed up at the apartment complex to get his kids and ended up shooting his ex and the other man.

They say he then drove to a local police station and gave himself up as the shooter.

Names were not released at the time of this report.

The children were not injured and were placed in the custody of child welfare.
