SHERMAN OAKS ( — Investigators were on the scene in Sherman Oaks Tuesday where officers opened fire on a man who was armed with a steak knife.

Los Angeles police officials say officers were called to the 4200 block of Matilija just before 11 p.m. Monday on the report of a domestic dispute.

Officers used a stun gun on the man, who is in his 70s, but when he kept hold of the knife, the officers opened fire on him.

The man was in critical, but stable, condition. His wife was treated for minor injuries she sustained during the domestic violence incident.
