3.0M Quake Hits Santa Monica Area

SANTA MONICA (CBSLA.com) – A small 3.0 magnitude earthquake struck about 1.2 miles northwest of downtown Santa Monica Monday evening.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake hit at 10:28 p.m. The epicenter occurred in the area of West Channel Road and Sumac Lane.

It happened at a depth of 5.4 miles, USGS said.

There was no immediate word of any damage.
