Man Shot Dead Near Duarte, 2 Suspects At Large

DUARTE (CBSLA.com) — A man was shot dead Saturday night by one of two suspects while the victim was walking with some friends in the Mayflower Village area near Duarte , authorities said.

The shooting was at about 9:10 p.m. Saturday at Flagstone at Camino Real avenues, Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman said.

The victim was walking north on Flagstone Avenue with another male and a female, when then they were confronted by two suspects as they reached Camino Real Avenue, said Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

"At least one of the suspects shot at the victims before fleeing the scene in a gray Honda," Navarro-Suarez said. "The other two victims ran from the scene and called 911. They were not injured."

The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the shooting scene, according to authorities. The shooting was likely gang-related, the sheriff's department said.

The suspects were described as black men. Sheriff's homicide detectives asked anyone with any information regarding the shooting to call them at 323-890-5500.
