LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The LAPD was searching for a person who shot a man in black SUV Wednesday night.

The shooting occurred in the Westlake District  around 9 p.m., at Beverly Boulevard and Vendome Street, police said.

Witnesses say a man was standing on the sidewalk and shot at the vehicle. The victim was shot in the head and taken to a hospital where he is in stable condition in surgery. Police say the 19-year-old man was targeted.

A large portion of Beverly Boulevard was shut down between Occidental Boulevard and Dillion Street due to the investigation.
