2 Killed In Chain-Collision On 605 Freeway In Cerritos

CERRITOS (CBSLA.com) — Two people were killed and three others injured in a chain-collision involving six vehicles on the 605 Freeway overnight Friday in Cerritos.

The crash occurred at around 1:11 a.m. Saturday on southbound I-605, just north of State Route 91, according to California Highway Patrol.

The male adult driver of a 1999 Saturn was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released. A passenger of a 2007 Honda, identified as 24-year-old Gabriela Hernandez of Huntington Beach, was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where she died, CHP reported.

A man and two women were also hospitalized, two of whom had major injuries. One of the injured, identified as 36-year-old Amy Johnson, was expected to face charges, CHP said.

The freeway was temporarily closed in both directions. The circumstances of the crash were under investigation.
