Woman, 64, Killed In South LA Hit-And-Run Crash

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles police were searching for two women who allegedly left the scene of a hit-and-run crash that killed a 64-year- old woman in South Los Angeles Friday evening.

The victim, Brenda Joyce Scott of Carson, was driving a silver Mercedes south in the 9500 block of Hoover Street at 5:55 p.m. when a silver Jeep Renegade ran a stop sign at 95th Street and slammed into Scott's car, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Scott died at the scene, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The driver of the Jeep and her passenger, both described as black females, fled the silver Jeep they were traveling in after the crash, police said. They were last seen running north on Hoover.

A $50,000 reward is available to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with tips on the incident was urged to contact the LAPD South Traffic Division at 323-421-2571. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS. All tips can be made anonymously.
