2 Arrested In Whittier Crash That Killed Mother, Injured 3

WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) — Two drivers have been arrested on manslaughter charges in connection with a three-vehicle crash that killed a mother and left three others injured Friday night in Whittier.

The collision occurred at about 8:40 p.m. in the 7700 block of Colima Road.

According to Whittier police, a Hyundai and a BMW were speeding northbound on Colima Road when one of them lost control and they collided. The Hyundai then spun into oncoming traffic and crashed a Honda Accord being driven by a mother with her juvenile son.

The mother was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her son was treated at UC Irvine Medical Center for minor injuries.

The two occupants of the Hyundai, including the driver, 22-year-old Jacob Zamora of Anaheim, were transported to a hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the BMW, 22-year-old Corey Kiefer of Whittier, was not hurt.

Zamora and Kiefer were later arrested on gross vehicular manslaughter charges, police said.

Police are unsure if alcohol contributed to the crash. The investigation is ongoing.

The name of the deceased woman was not immediately released.
