Irvine Police Bust Alleged Serial Burglar

IRVINE (CBSLA.com)   —   Police in Irvine have announced the arrest of a suspect in a string of burglaries in the Woodbury neighborhood.

Derek Tucker, 28, of Irvine was taken into custody on December 13 following a series of burglaries that occurred in the area over the last several weeks, police said.

On December 5, officers received information about a burglary that occurred the day before. In that theft, the suspect stole a set of golf clubs and other property.

Officers followed a tip about the clubs and found that the suspect, Tucker, was also on probation.

Two days later, police conducted a probation compliance check at Tucker’s residence and located stolen property, including  the golf clubs and related items from that homeowner.

Authorities said the victim in that case was able to positively identify her property, and it was returned to her.

Tucker was not home at the time of the search and seizure but was located by Irvine Police officers on December 13 and arrested for residential burglary.

Anyone with info is asked to contact Detective Keith Herter at (949) 724-7183 or kherter@cityofirvine.org.

  1. Good work by Irvine detectives. Hopefully, the alleged burglar will grow up while in police custody and mend his ways.
