Dickerson Says He Didn't Get Jeff Fisher Fired: 'Losing' Got Fisher Fired

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —  Reaction continued Tuesday after the firing of Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher.

About three weeks ago Dickerson and Fisher had a clash of words over the Hall of Famer's criticism of the team.

That may have been the beginning of the end for Fisher's tenure as head coach, with Dickerson saying he wouldn't return to games until Fisher was no longer with the Rams.

Now that fisher has been fired, CBS2's Jim Hill caught up with the Rams legend for his thoughts.

"That was not my intention to get Jeff Fisher fired, that's not what I was trying to do," Dickerson said. "People ask me if I got Jeff Fisher fired, I say 'no' losing got Jeff Fisher fired."

Dickerson says his conversation with Fisher got blown out of proportion.

The NFL's all-time single-season rusher says his criticism of team is what fans wanted him to say.

"I've been honest. I'm not trying to hurt my football team. I love the Los Angeles Rams, I want to help my team as much as I can."

In a statement, Fisher said:

"I especially want to thank all of the players. They are a great group of men that I respect, and that I will greatly miss. My hope is that each one of the players experience great success in the future."
