CHINO (CBSLA.com) — A 5-year-old boy died Sunday night after being hit by a pick-up truck, police said.
The child was taken to Chino Valley Medical Center in what CBSLA’s Jennifer Kastner was told “very serious” condition. He succumbed to his injuries around 11 p.m.
Kastner was at the scene of before it was learned the accident was fatal.
Investigators say the vehicle, a Ford F-150 pick-up truck, struck the boy at about 6:30 p.m on Oaks Avenue.
The driver is an 18-year-old male from Chino. He remained at the scene and has cooperated with the investigation. It is not believed that alcohol or drugs played a part in the collision.
