2 Teens Arrested Over Alleged Plan To Attack King High School In Riverside

RIVERSIDE (AP) — Two 15-year-old students have been arrested for allegedly planning a future attack at a Riverside high school, authorities said.

The teens did not bring firearms to school and planned the attack for 2020, the Press-Enterprise reported Wednesday.

A third student was detained for questioning, Riverside police officer Ryan Railsback told the newspaper.

Authorities began investigating a tip on Monday about a possible weapon at Martin Luther King Jr. High School in Riverside and uncovered the plot, police and the school district said in a statement.

Police said they later found evidence at the homes of two 15-year-old freshmen that corroborated the attack plan.

The boys were arrested on suspicion of possession of knives and ammunition on campus. They are also being held for investigation of conspiracy to commit murder.

Police said students were not in danger but sent additional officers to the campus.

The school's principal sent parents an email Monday night about the investigation.

Authorities have not released details of what the teens were allegedly planning.

Riverside police Lt. Christian Dinco urged community members to continue to report suspicious activity to authorities, and said a statement that police and the school district "are thankful we have citizens that stepped forward in this case."
