Suspected Gang Member To Be Arraigned On Capital Murder Charges

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A suspected gang member will be arraigned Tuesday on capital murder charges in connection with the deaths of four people in South Los Angeles.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Marlon Jones has been charged with four counts of murder along with the special circumstance allegation of multiple murders.

If convicted as charged, Jones faces the death penalty or life in state prison without the possibility of parole.

The decision whether to seek capital punishment will be made at a later date.

Jones allegedly shot and killed a rival gang member while attending a birthday party on Oct. 15 at a home that had been temporarily converted into a restaurant, located in the 2900 block of Rimpau Avenue.

Gunfire was subsequently exchanged between the groups, killing three men and wounding 10 others.

The FBI added Jones to its Ten Most Wanted List on Thursday.

He was captured in South Los Angeles on Friday during a car chase.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
