Arrest Made In Stabbing Death Of Pregnant Woman In Venice

VENICE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say they have made an arrest in connection with the death of a pregnant woman in Venice.

Jasmine Preciado was stabbed to death after a fight with three people, two females and one male.

The incident last month involving the 22-year-old happened at the corner of Pacific and Windward avenues.

CBS2's Greg Mills on Saturday spoke to Preciado's heartbroken relatives about the break in the case.

"This is the hardest thing. This is the first time," said Jasmine's aunt Natalie Preciado.

It was the first time for her to be in Los Angeles since her nice was killed the Monday before Thanksgiving.

Last night, police said a female juvenile turned herself in in connection with the case.

"I'm very happy. They still have a man out there and that other woman," said Martha Sophia Quesada, Jasmine's grandmother.

Security video the LAPD has not confirmed appears to show the fight between Preciado and her attackers standing at the back of a dark SUV.

Preciado leaves behind a 3-year-old daughter who lives with Gloria Becerra, one of her grandmothers.

Mills was told the little girl has not yet been told her mother is dead.

"Not right now," said Becerra, "when she starts asking to me about her, then I can explain a little bit more. Explain to her and not cry."

Mills says a GoFundMe account was set up in Jasnine's name to help with funeral expenses but the family would prefer that people donate through an account in Jasmine Preciado's name at any Wells Fargo branch.

Natalie told Mills Preciado was 5-months pregnant and she is in Los Angeles to help with funeral arrangements.

Jasmine's aunt and grandmother told Mills that she was raised in Southern California since the time she was 3-days-old until the time she was 21.

"She was like my baby," said Quesada.

"It's awful to bury her and her baby," her aunt said.

Natalie also told Mills that Preciado planned to move to Amarillo, Texas to live with her.
