Free Food, Free Laughs Highlight Laugh Factory Thanksgiving

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com)  —    For the 37th year in a row, the Laugh Factory served up a free holiday meal and some priceless comedy to go along with it.

In their annual tradition, the Laugh Factory welcomes "those away from home as well as those who might be lonely, homeless or simply in need of a warm meal, a hug or a laugh."

CBS2's Jennifer Kastner reported from the famous comedy club where helping people has become a serious business.

Kastner (her second year covering the event and something she is eager to do, "this is such a nice event," she reported) also spoke to top comic Paul Rodriguez who couldn't resist a little funny.

"All of our turkeys at the Laugh Factory, are free range," he said. "We raise them ourselves. And with a lot of love. Then you know, they develop a weight problem. and we take care of that on this Thursday."

In addition to Rodriguez, other top acts -- like Tim Allen and Kevin Nealon -- were expected to take part.

Comedian Tiffany Haddish of "The Carmichael Show" loves giving back.

"People come up to me crying," she says, "They thank us for making them laugh, [they'll say] 'I haven't laughed all year,' and 'thanks so much for being kind to me and for smiling at me. No one smiles at me. Cause I live in the streets.'"

Guests are greeted at the door by Laugh Factory owner Jamie Masada whose mantra is "spending the holidays alone is no laughing matter."

Last year, 2,500 people were served and this year, the Laugh Factory (8001 Sunset Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90046) is preparing for an even larger crowd.
