Man Identified As Maywood Rape Suspect Is At Large

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  — Authorities on Thursday identified a suspect wanted in a rape.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department identified 28-year-old Salvador Martinez of Maywood as the suspect in a rape that occurred Sunday in Maywood.

Officials said he is at large.

The alleged crime occurred sometime between midnight and 4 a.m. The victim of the assault was an woman who was home alone at the time of the attack.

The woman lives in the area of Slauson Avenue and Maywood Avenue, officials said.

Investigators have not said whether Martinez is linked to a series of burglaries in the area.

KCAL9's Peter Daut reports that in several of those burglaries, women and girls were groped and fondled.

Investigators said a link to Martinez to these cases is something they are definitely looking into.

Officials said Martinez has several distinct tattoos on his forearms in what appears to be the faces of babies.
