1,200 Students March Into Downtown Los Angeles To Protest Trump Presidency

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — About 1,200 students walked out of class Monday and marched through the streets of downtown Los Angeles to protest the election of Donald Trump.

Students from about a dozen LAUSD high schools began walking toward Los Angeles City Hall shortly after 9 a.m

Many of the students told CBS2's Dave Lopez they're concerned their parents could be deported as part of Trump's plan to deport as many as three million undocumented immigrants.

The school district previously warned students who participate in the walkout would face disciplinary action. Still, some teachers marched along with the students.

Last week, students from Franklin High School in Highland Park walked to Eagle Rock in Hollywood.

CBS2's Jasmine Viel reported about 74 percent of LAUSD students are Latino. An estimated 10 percent of L.A.'s population is undocumented.
