Thousands Of Anti-Trump Protesters March To Downtown LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Thousands of people rallied Saturday in a fourth consecutive day of protests denouncing President-elect Donald Trump.

The event organized by Unión del Barrio got underway at 11 a.m. and was expected to took emonstrators to downtown Los Angeles.

As a precaution, police closed several on- and off-ramps of the 110 and 101 freeways to prevent protesters from getting onto the thoroughfares.

Saturday's protest is was  the largest march yet in LA against Trump.

Overnight, 195 protesters in downtown were arrested as another protest against Trump came to an end.

CBS2's Greg Mills said Saturday's march and rally remained peaceful. No attests were reported.

There was some drama when police said a small group of protesters refused to allow a police SUV through one area.

People chanted, "Not my president" as well as "hey, hey, ho, ho, Donald Trump has got to go."

They also chanted, "No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA."

Protester Amanda Tracy told Mills she came to speak up for others.

"It's good to show up the for the people who don't feel like they have a voice in our government, which is many people she said."

While most in the crowd viewed the event as a Trump protest, the organizers said they really didn't like either party.

But most were there to express displeasure over the election and the winner.

"He won as president by fear-mongering and I'm against that. That's not right," said Krys Pham.

"We are standing up for justice and people having the right to live their lives freely. I fear he is going to try to take that away from us," said Madonna Cacciatore.

Mills asked protester Brad Carr if he thought Trump was seeing or hearing the protests.

"I hope so," he said, "I really do. I think there is still a question in everyone's mind what is he really going to do when he gets to office?"
