Women Encouraged To Take Care Of IUDs Before Trump Presidency
Los Angeles (CBS LA) - While some voters are still coming to terms with the reality of a Donald Trump presidency, some women are now thinking ahead to their yearly OB-GYN visit.
Why? Because it may be harder to get access to birth control come January.
Trump has made repealing Obamacare one of his signature campaign promises. Currently, all FDA-approved methods of birth control are covered without a co-pay if you have insurance. That includes birth control pills and long-acting options like the IUD (intrauterine device) or implant.
It's unclear how contraceptive access and affordability will change under a Trump administration. That's why women are taking to social media advising those who don't want to get pregnant to take care of their birth control needs before potential de-funding and restrictions happen.
And with some IUDs lasting up to 10 years, this tweet could be proven accurate.
