As Seen On TV: 'Veggetti' Shredder Turns Veggies Into Pasta

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — If you love pasta, but hate the carbs, CBS2's Elsa Ramon has a product for you.

It's called the Veggetti and claims it can turn vegetables like zucchini, squash and carrots into spaghetti.

But is this the real deal - or another dud?

For those living a low-carb lifestyle - which typically involves eliminated carbs and pasta from your diet - spiral slicers have grown very popular, but they typically sell for around $100.

The Veggetti, however, costs about $15.

After cutting off the ends of her selected vegetables, Ramon put the zucchini and squash through the Vegetti and turned the machine almost like she was sharpening a pencil and the strands started dropping onto her plate.

As you get closer to the bottom of the vegetable, the instructions say to use sharp prongs that are designed to help push the rest of the veggie safely through the blade to avoid injury.

While she did get perfect strands that look like spaghetti, a portion of the zucchini was still wasted.

Ramon tried a squash next - which is not as soft as zucchini - and she was able to shred the squash as far down as it could go, wasting less of the veggie this time around.

She even went back to try other zucchinis, and had better success with one that was more firm.

Ultimately, they were able to get an entire plate of "Veggetti" with very little work.
