Felon Faces Life In Prison For Allegedly Stabbing, Shooting Girlfriend To Death; Ramming Vehicle Into Man, Child

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —   Authorities said a 47-year-old felon is  facing life behind bars for the fatal shooting and stabbing of his girlfriend in Pacoima and for using his car as a weapon in another unrelated incident.

Michael Jerome Parks, AKA Chicken Mike and/or Michael McTizic, was arraigned Thursday.

Officials said Parks pleaded not guilty to one count of murder with allegations that he used a handgun and a knife as deadly weapons.

Deputy District Attorney Ani Bailey said Parks has many prior felony convictions (for robbery in 1985, in 2005 for assault with a deadly weapon, in 1990 for possession of cocaine for sale and transport, in 1994 for sale and transport of a controlled substance, assault with a firearm in 1995, assault with a deadly weapon in 2002 and possession of a firearm by a felon in 2012.)

Park  is scheduled to return to court on Nov. 14.

The DA alleges that Park stabbed and shot his girlfriend -- G'Teasha F., 33 -- on Sept. 7 inside a Pacoima home. No motive was given for the slaying.

Authorities said Parks fled and was later arrested in Las Vegas and extradited back to LA.

The DA says Parks also faces six felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon for an unrelated incident on July 7. In that case, he is accused of allegedly ramming his vehicle three times into another car with a man and a 5-year-old boy inside.

Bail was set at more than $6 million for both cases. Parks faces life in state prison if convicted as charged on the two cases.
