Suspect Who Allegedly Stabbed People While Riding Bike Near LAX Behind Bars

CULVER CITY (CBSLA.com) —A suspect who allegedly stabbed at least three people while riding his bicycle in and around Culver City is behind bars, authorities said.

The man was taken into custody by LAX Police, officials said.

Police told KCAL9's Dave Lopez they're still trying o come up with a motive.

According to detectives, sometime on Tuesday evening, 24-year-old Josue Romo, a man they described as having mental issues, left home in Culver City on his bike.

They said for several house he rode around near LAX. The said the man stabbed three people and as many as four.

One man, who did not want to appear on camera, said he had just gotten off work at LAX just before midnight on Tuesday.

In no time, he said,the area was flooded with police.

A neighbor reported being familiar with the bike rider but could not remember the last time she saw him in the area.

Around 10 p.m., on Tuesday -- at a bus stop about a mile from where Romo lives -- a 60-year-old man was stabbed at Sepulveda Boulevard. and W. Slauson Avenue.

Then another man was stabbed at Imperial  and S Western Ave.  Moments later another person was stabbed at E. Imperial Highway and E. Aviation Blvd. Another person was stabbed at W. Century and Vicksburg Ave.

All of the victims reported being stabbed by a man on a bike.

Several minutes after the last attack, in the In-N-Out parking lot at Lincoln and Sepulveda, Romo was taken into custody by an LAX officer.

According to police, none of the injuries is considered life-threatening.

They also said they can link him to at least of the stabbings. They are still not sure about the stabbing at the bus stop in Culver City.

When Romo was arrested police said they found on his person a knife and he was wearing a bloody shirt.
