Metrolink Crash Delays Trains Into Thursday's Morning Commute

IRWINDALE (CBSLA.com) — Several trains were delayed Wednesday after a San Bernardino-bound Metrolink train struck a vehicle that was on the tracks in Irwindale, authorities said.

No injuries were reported in the crash, which happened about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Irwindale Avenue and Edna Place, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Metrolink San Bernardino Line Train Line 336 struck a vehicle that was pushed onto the tracks in an earlier collision, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig said. It wasn't immediately known if the vehicle was occupied.

There were 91 passengers aboard the train, she said.

Metrolink reported the train was delayed an hour and 40 minutes because of the crash.

The Inland Empire/OC Line 803 to Oceanside was expected to be delayed Thursday up to 30 minutes due to the crash, Metrolink said.

The 91/PV Line 701 from Riverside County to Los Angeles was expected to experience minimal delays.
