COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Monday investigated the circumstances surrounding a shooting that left one man in critical condition and injured a woman in Compton.

The shooting unfolded around 10 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of W. Cherry Street, according to sheriff's deputies.

A juvenile who sat in the back seat did not sustain injuries.

Paramedics transported the man and woman to a hospital.

The man remains listed in critical condition.

The woman has since been treated and released.

Deputies said the suspects, described as African American adults, were last seen running westbound on Cherry Street.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about this incident has been urged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
