Moreno Valley Jogger Escapes Kidnap Attempt

MORENO VALLEY (CBSLA.com/AP) — Riverside County authorities are searching for a motorist who attempted to kidnap a jogger.

The Sheriff's Department says a 25-year-old woman was jogging in Moreno Valley Thursday evening when she noticed she was being followed by a man driving a pickup truck.

She later saw the pickup parked near an intersection, and as she passed by, the driver stepped out and confronted her.

The man tried to carry the woman toward his vehicle but she struggled and managed to escape and call 911 as the man fled.

The suspect was described a Hispanic man about 38 to 45 years old, 5-foot-2, 140 pounds, with short, dark-colored hair and facial stubble, wearing a blue shirt and black pants.

The vehicle was described as a two-tone green over tan, mid-1990s Ford F-150 regular cab pickup. The Sheriff's Department says the Moreno Valley City-Wide Camera System recorded images of the vehicle with a large piece of furniture strapped in its bed.

Anyone with information about this crime or the truck can contact Investigator Jess Vasquez or the Moreno Valley Police Department watch commander at (951) 486-6700.
