710 Freeway Reopens In Compton Following Death Investigation

COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — A person was found dead Thursday in the southbound lanes of the 710 Freeway in Compton.

California Highway Patrol officers received report of a possible pedestrian down on the freeway around 1:16 a.m. near Alondra Boulevard.

Upon their arrival, authorities located the body in the roadway.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

According to police, several vehicles stopped to render aide.

At this time, it remains unclear why the person was on the freeway; however, investigators determined the person was struck by at least one vehicle.

All but one southbound lane of the freeway remained closed at Alondra Boulevard until 5 a.m., CHP officers said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
