Man Arrested In Connection With Series Of Burglaries, Sexual Assaults In Riverside

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A 31-year-old man suspected of committing several burglaries and sexual assaults in the city of Riverside has been arrested, police said Tuesday.

Detectives arrested Pedro Paredes Ramirez, of Moreno Valley, on Monday afternoon.

Ramirez was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for multiple counts of burglary, sexual assault and lewd acts with a child, police said.

Detectives impounded his early 2000 GMC Yukon XL at the time of his arrest.

According to police, Ramirez is accused of targeting women and children in the Arlanza neighborhood.

The first incident unfolded around 3:47 a.m. Sunday at a home located in the 6900 block of Adler Place.

A mother found Ramirez inside her daughter's bedroom allegedly committing a lewd act. Police believe he forced entry through the child's window and her father chased him away.

While officers were conducting their investigation, a burglary was reported about a half hour later in the 9800 block of Cypress Ave with the same suspect description.

Ramirez is accused of forcing entry into the second home and attacking a woman and her child. He fled the scene prior to officers arrival.

About 20 minutes later, a third call was reported in the 6800 block of Comstock Avenue.

Police said a citizen recognized Ramirez's vehicle from previous prowler reports. The citizen witnessed Ramirez allegedly lunge at a woman and flee from the scene.

Witness descriptions eventually led to his arrest.

According to police, Ramirez also had access to a white late 90s Nissan Sentra and a white early 2000s Nissan Altima.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about these incidents have been urged to contact the Riverside Police Department at (951) 353-7121.
