La Puente Standoff Ends, Man Who Pointed Shotgun At Family Members In Custody

LA PUENTE (CBSLA.com) — A man who fired a shotgun at a ceiling and pointed it at family members was taken into custody early Monday morning after a sheriff's SWAT team fired tear gas inside the home, authorities said.

The incident ended at about 12:30 a.m., according to a tweet by the Los Angeles County sheriff's Special Enforcement Bureau.

The standoff began at about 5:40 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of San Angelo Avenue, Sgt. Rico Sandoval said.

The suspect eventually allowed his family members to leave the residence. Sheriff's deputies evacuated adjacent homes as they attempted to make contact with the suspect, Sandoval said.

No injuries were reported, Sandoval said.
