Driver On The Run After Killing 1, Injuring 2 Others At South LA Bus Stop

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) – A search is underway for a hit-and-run driver who killed a man and critically injured two women at a bus stop in South Los Angeles.

The victims were a couple, both 70, and their 50-year-old daughter, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department.

He said about 6:40 p.m., a white Buick struck a black Range Rover as it was trying to turn right into a driveway.

The collision sent the SUV careening into the victims at a bus stop at 54th and Figueroa Streets.

The driver in the Buick immediately took off on foot.

Gigi Calderon said she was horrified when she saw the accident. "The lady that got ran over, she tried to jump out of it. But instead, the car ran over her. I was shaking and screaming because all I see is three bodies just flying over to the center of the street. At that very moment, that's when I started screaming."

Police said they had reviewed security video from the 7-Eleven across the street and were able to see exactly how the accident happened.

If you had witnessed the crash, call the LAPD.
