Dog Goes Missing From Riverside, Turns Up In New Mexico 2 Years Later

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com ) — A dog that went missing two years ago from its Riverside home and turned up in New Mexico has been reunited with his family -- that has since relocated -- in  Nevada.

In a GoFundMe campaign started four days ago, Justine Martin said her family's dog Huxley, who had gone missing from their Riverside home in 2014, turned up this week in Albuquerque, New Mexico -- 800 miles away.

Where has Huxley been all this time? He's not saying. How did he get to Albuquerque? Also staying mum. And who was taking care of him? That's also a mystery but his former owners said someone had to be feeding him -- he's much chubbier than he was two years ago, they said.

His microchip had led animal welfare officials to the Martins' phone number.

The only problem was – the cheapest flight to the Martins' new home in Reno, Nevada cost $250. So the family started a GoFundMe to get help bringing Huxley home and back to their 6 1/2-year-old son, who remembered Huxley as "his favorite dog."

The GoFundMe quickly raised the needed $250 and more, which the family says will be donated to the animal welfare group that found Huxley.
