Man Gets Away After Taking Several Upskirt Photos Of Women

SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA.com)  — A woman shopping at a 99 Cent Only store Wednesday afternoon sensed something strange in one of the aisles.

The mother of three was out shopping alone at the store in Santa Clarita on Valencia Boulevard when she noticed a man following her.

"I saw this man and he was always really close to me," the woman who asked not to be identified said. "He was bent down, pretending to tie his shoe and that's when I noticed he had a black cube in his hand."

She grabbed it out of his hand and realized it was a GoPro camera.

"I said 'were you filming up my skirt?' and he just started laughing."

The woman flagged down a manager while the man ran out of the store. She then called the sheriffs department. When deputies arrived they asked the store manager for access to the store's security video.

While the woman and deputies were watching the tape, they noticed the man had the camera under the woman's skirt at least six times. They also noticed he had followed several women before her.

"I immediately burst into tears and was in shock," the woman said.

The woman felt even more violated when the deputies told her the bad news.

Though California law prohibits someone from taking up skirt photos or video, there have been cases, just like this across the country that have been thrown out of court. The deputies told her, her case likely wouldn't go anywhere.

"'Is this a joke?'" the woman asked the deputies.

The sheriffs department said a case was filed and they are investigating this as disorderly conduct, which is a misdemeanor.

"I want other women to be aware. If you feel something off, don't be afraid to say it."
