'We Condemn Those Responsible,' Says Mayor Garcetti Following Weekend Attacks In New York, New Jersey & Philadelphia

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti spoke out Saturday in response to an explosion that rocked one of New York's trendiest neighborhoods and injured at least 29 people.

"Our thoughts are with everyone who has endured violence in New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia this weekend," Garcetti said in a statement.

He added, "We condemn those responsible and offer support to first responders and all those working tirelessly to tend to the injured, restore calm, and investigate these senseless attacks."

The mayor said the Los Angeles Police Department was monitoring the situations and "remains dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of all of LA's communities."

The statement comes in the wake of a series of separate incidents in New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia.

In New Jersey, a pipe bomb exploded in Seaside Park along the route of a charity 5K race to benefit Marines and sailors.

In Philadelphia, police officers Saturday came under fire for a second night in a row, according to the Associated Press.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, law enforcement officials continued to investigate the NYC explosion, which did not immediately appear to have any link to international terrorism, according to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
