2 People Critical After Being Stabbed Near Disneyland

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com)     Two stabbings were reported near Disneyland hotels Thursday evening and both victims  — a man and a woman — were reported to be in critical condition.

Authorities are not sure if the stabbings are related but they happened within blocks of each other and around the same time. They called the connection “likely.” Police also believe a blood trail connects the attacks.

One or more suspects are at large.

The first incident reportedly happened just after 8 p.m.

A male victim was stabbed “multiple times,” just outside the Springfield Suites Hotel, said a witness.

The male victim was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Both stabbings occurred on on near Ball Road leading police to believe both were coordinated and not random.

It was not clear if the victims were related or acquainted. Authorities said the stabbings had nothing to do with Disneyland. They were still beefing up security in the area as a precaution.

About a minute after the man was stabbed, a woman was attacked about 150 yards away.

The woman was stabbed outside the Holiday Inn on Walnut Street, in the hotel’s parking lot, witnesses said. They did not get a good look at the suspect.

Police are reportedly looking for surveillance video, KCAL9’s Stacey Butler reported.

She also said witnesses saw a man fleeing the area.

Butler spoke to one man who didn’t want to appear on camera.

“I got up close. But I didn’t know what it was until I could  see it was a guy,” said the man, a tourist from Oregon. “And there was blood all over the sidewalk.” The man was at Disneyland all day with his wife and children. Upon arriving back at the hotel they saw the bloody stabbing victim — he said his kids were “horrified.”

The tourist added, “We got the kids upstairs, but they were freaked out by it. They’re 9 and 11, so they’re young kids.”

He said the male victim was in his 30s.

According to the website Empire of Mouse, the incident is being purported to be a gangland turf battle by rival Disneyland neighborhood gangs over dealing narcotics.
