Bill Clinton To Fill In For Hillary At SoCal Fundraisers

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com/AP) — Bill Clinton will step in for his ailing wife at two Los Angeles fundraisers tomorrow in Beverly Hills, CBS news reported.

Hillary Clinton cancelled the appearances after her campaign announced Sunday the candidate is being treated for pneumonia, a fact that had been withheld since Friday. She's expected back on the campaign trail as early as Wednesday.

"She's doing fine, she was even better last night before she went to sleep," Bill Clinton told Charlie Rose in an interview. "She had a good night's sleep she's doing fine. Apparently there's a lot of it going around and a bunch of her staff has gotten sick."

The 68-year-old spent 90 minutes Sunday at a ceremony in New York City marking the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, but left early after campaign officials said the Democratic presidential nominee "felt overheated".

A video of her departure shows Clinton appearing to stumble as three staff members hold her up and help her into a van. Clinton's doctor said later she had been diagnosed with pneumonia and prescribed antibiotics.

Monday, campaign aides said a number of staff members had been ill recently, including campaign manager Robby Mook.
