Suspect Critically Wounded In Officer-Involved Shooting In Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com)   —  Authorities said a suspect was critically wounded in an officer-involved shooting Sunday afternoon.

The incident happened around 3:20 p.m. near Pacific Coast Highway and Lemon Avenue, according to Marlene Arrona of the LB Police's Media Relations Department.

"At some point, an officer-involved shooting occurred," Arrona said.

Police were investigating a possible armed robbery that occurred earlier in the day. They said when they approached a group of suspects, some fled on foot and others in a vehicle.

The vehicle crashed into an unoccupied parked car across the street. One suspect fled the vehicle and an officer-involved shooting occurred. That suspect was not injured, police said.

Another suspect who fled on foot was shot by police.

A weapon was reportedly located at the scene.

One suspect who was at large was later taken into custody about a block away.

Five adult males and one juvenile make will be booked on the armed robbery charge. Authorities declined to give further details about the robbery.

No officers were injured, police said.
