LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — More than 800,000 passengers are expected to pass through Los Angeles International Airport this Labor Day weekend.

Friday is projected to be the busiest travel day, with about 223,000 commuters.

Monday is expected to bring 219,000 passengers to LAX.

Around 817,000 travelers are scheduled to come through LAX over the weekend, just over seven percent more than last year's holiday travel period.

Airport officials warned holiday travelers to expect slower-than-usual traffic in the Central Terminal area.

Motorists have been urged to check the Waze navigation app, which contains road closure and traffic condition information provided by the airport.

According to AAA, the most popular destinations for Southern Californians traveling this Labor Day weekend will be San Diego, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Yosemite and Santa Catalina Island.
