Customer Sues Lyft For Leaving Her On Marina Del Rey Street Where She Was Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver

LOS ANGELES ( — A woman is suing Lyft, claiming a driver left her in the middle of a busy Marina del Rey street, where she was struck by a hit-and-run driver.

Sara Corcoran filed the suit in Los Angeles Superior Court accusing Lyft and driver, Edward Shin, of negligence.

On Dec. 3, 2014, Shin dropped Corcoran off in the center of Lincoln Boulevard near Mindanao Way after missing the stop the plaintiff requested, according to the lawsuit.

As Corcoran was trying to cross the street, a hit-and-run driver struck her on the right lane of southbound Lincoln Boulevard and left the scene.

Shin saw the accident, turned around and picked up the plaintiff who suffered from fractures in her left shoulder and neck, her suit stated.

Corcoran claimed Shin was negligent in dropping her off in the center of a busy street and that Lyft should have known that he was an “incompetent and reckless driver.”

She’s seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.

A Lyft representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
