Academy Of Pediatrics Changes Position On Vaccination Debate

BEVERLY HILLS (CBSLA.com) — The American Academy of Pediatrics has changed its position on how doctors should deal with parents who choose not to vaccinate their children.

The AAP will now allow doctors to decline treatment to parents if they have tried unsuccessfully to persuade them to vaccinate.

Many parents are split on that stance.

One mother likes the option for doctors to refuse treatment, saying it will help keep children healthy in the waiting room. Another mom says the decision is unethical and it's akin to the academy saying, "We know what's best for your children."

CBS2's Kristine Lazar shows us what physicians and parents had to say about the debate.
