Caltrans To Close Stretch Of 101 Freeway From Echo Park To Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A stretch of the 101 Freeway from Echo Park to Hollywood will be closed overnight for part of next week, Caltrans announced Tuesday.

Northbound lanes of the 101 Freeway will be shut down from Glendale Boulevard to Cahuenga Boulevard from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday, the agency said.

The shutdown will allow for the installation of "loop detectors" -- devices embedded in the pavement that can track traffic speeds and congestion for use by public agencies.

The installation of the loops is one of the final stages of a $19.26 million project to repave the 101 Freeway from downtown Los Angeles to Hollywood.

Caltrans warned that drivers should expect delays and consider alternate routes.
